Every Michigan child should prepare for a globally competitive future that is integrated with technology and focused on the knowledge economy. The Michigan Virtual School
enables all schools to offer students equal access to diverse courses. It helps them provide a way for students to build technology skills and tools that will help them succeed. Welcome to MVS!
What is the Michigan Virtual School?
The Michigan Virtual School is an online resource that enables Michigan high schools and middle schools to provide courses (all taught by certified teachers) and other learning tools that students wouldn't otherwise have access to. It was funded by the Michigan Legislature in July 2000 to be operated by the Michigan Virtual University, a private, not-for-profit Michigan corporation.
Through MVS, Michigan high school and middle school students can take a variety of courses and learn any place there is a computer and an Internet connection. We're here to help prepare our children for a lifetime of integrating technology into their work and their lives.
Eligible students include:
- Gifted and talented students
- Special needs students
- Students who need to “make-up” credit
- Public and non-public school students
- Home-schooled students
MVS can help schools stretch tight school budgets, provide staff development opportunities and improve student performance.
And we can help educators get back to what matters most — helping kids find their special gifts.
