Flexible courses offered in a variety of formats
These self-paced courses offer great flexibility, along with a Michigan-certified teacher who guides students through each course. Flex courses have a flexible enrollment date, but a fixed end date. Students set their pace based on the amount of time they have from their enrollment until the course end date. Because of the flexible start dates, teachers set guidelines for completing assignments, encourage students and monitor their progress, grade coursework and are available to students for questions and guidance.
World Languages (except Chinese) and Fast Track courses are Flex style courses.
Flex courses are offered in various formats, although the content is exactly the same whether it's a semester-paced, trimester-paced, Fast Track or summer session.
- Semester-paced (16-18 weeks): students should spend 5-7 hours a week in the course
- Trimester-paced (10-12 weeks): students should spend 7-10 hours a week in the course
- Fast Track (6 weeks): students should spend 9-12 hours a week in the course
- Summer session (4-8 weeks): students should spend 10-20 hours a week in the course, depending on the amount of time from the enrollment date to the end of the summer session
