MVS Blended courses allow for independent learning
MVS Blended courses are open for enrollment all year long. Students are expected to complete these courses in four months or less. MVS Blended courses have a flexible start date. These content-only courses allow independent learning and work best when content is paired with a local teacher. Students can be placed in Core, Literacy Advantage or Foundations pathways. Core Pathway
Core courses meet the needs of a range of students as they work to master rigorous content and earn credits toward graduation. While Core courses assume readiness for grade-level academic challenges, they also include targeted scaffolding for students who benefit from additional learning support. Each session course offers 60-90 hours of interactive direct instruction, guided practice and integrated assessments.
Foundation Pathway
Foundations courses are also offered in the MVS Blended course style. Foundations courses meet the needs of both high school and transitioning middle school students who are not prepared for grade-level academic challenges.MVS Blended Foundations courses develop skills and strategies in math in Math Foundations 1A, Math Foundations 1B, Math Foundations 2A, Math Foundations 2B, English Foundations 1A and English Foundations 1B.
Literacy Advantage Pathway
Literacy Advantage courses are standards-based general studies courses that meet the needs of students who are reading below proficient. Courses assist students in mastering required content in algebra, biology, English, geometry, physical science and U.S. government & politics to earn credits toward high school graduation while simultaneously developing general and academic literacy skills.
Course materials
Most MVS Blended courses contain all the materials needed to complete the course and are included in the cost of the course. Some courses require the purchase of a text or other resource. Click here for a list of courses that include resources that must be purchased.
Getting started in MVS Blended courses
View the How MVS Blended Course Work guide. Once you sign in at http://mvs.apexvs.com, you will land on the Home page. From here you can:
- Launch your course.
- Take your time when taking quizzes and tests.
- Keep track of your progress with reports.
Printing your completion report
MVU doesn't keep grades or completion records for MVS Blended courses. Students can use the Reports tab on their Home page to make sure they are staying on track and to print a completion report.
- Click the View link in your "Student Progress" report. This link will show you a list of all scored activities in your course, their due dates and any scores you have earned so far.
- After completing your course, print the report and give it to your counselor or mentor.
