New and improved Student Direct courses added to catalog

Sixty-five new and improved Student Direct courses are open for enrollment all year long. Students are expected to complete these courses in four months or less. Student Direct courses have a flexible start date, but each Student Direct session has a set end date. There are no extensions given for Student Direct sections. The Student Direct instructor’s role is limited to resetting tests and recording the final score only.

Sixty-one of the Student Direct courses follow the Apex Learning "Core" pathway. Core courses meet the needs of a range of students as they work to master rigorous content and earn credits toward graduation. While Core courses assume readiness for grade-level academic challenges, they also include targeted scaffolding for students who benefit from additional learning support. Each session course offers 70-90 hours of interactive direct instruction, guided practice and integrated formative, summative and diagnostic assessment. Click here to see a list of the Apex SD coursess in math, science, English, social studies, world languages, fine arts and physical education/health subject areas.

Four Apex Foundations courses are also offered in the Student Direct course style. Foundations courses meet the needs of both high school and transitioning middle school students who are not prepared for grade-level academic challenges. MVS Foundations courses develop skills and strategies in math in Math Foundations 1A, Math Foundations 1B, Math Foundations 2A and Math Foundations 2B.
