Explore careers, create an EDP

Michigan Virtual School serves the K-12 population in the state not only with online courses, but by providing career development products and services, including CareerForward®, myDreamExplorer® and the MOIS CD.

The MVS career services products provide online and CD-ROM career management systems (myDreamExplorer and MOIS) that address self-assessment, career exploration, decision making and career planning.

CareerForward was created to help Michigan students understand how to plan their work lives and career opportunities amid the implications of the global economy. This award-winning, no-cost online course is a powerful means for Michigan students to satisfy the new Michigan Merit Curriculum requirements for an online course.

The goal of the myDreamExplorer website is to empower Michigan’s youth to explore career possibilities. At your fingertips is an exciting, innovative tool that allows students to mouse their way to career and education information, create Education Development Plans and more. This opportunity is available to Michigan schools at no charge due to Michigan state school aid act funding. The myDreamExplorer website is available to all middle school and high school students.

The CareerForward course is a self-contained online learning course that may be used in companion with a variety of online career planning tools that provide students with the opportunity to assess their career interests, explore career options and create an educational development plan.

CareerForward helps students wrestle with some of the burning questions about their futures: What am I going to do with my life? What is the world of work like? What will I need to succeed? How do I match my interests with work? Using a variety of multimedia, course topics explore these questions and more.
