High school courses available all year long

MVS Plus courses are offered in both semester and trimester length. Students work at their own pace; the enrollment date is flexible but the end date is fixed.

Six of the seven World Languages offered by MVS are MVS Plus style courses: American Sign Language, French, German, Japanese, Latin and Spanish, and are offered in the semester, trimester and in the summer session. Chinese is only offered as a semester course and is not available in the summer.

MVS also offers online Advanced Placement courses that are just as challenging as traditional AP classes and prepare you for the College Board exams.

Michigan Merit Curriculum
Beginning with the Class of 2011, the State of Michigan enacted rigorous high school graduation requirements. Content expectations were developed for each course required for graduation. All MVS courses designated as MMC were developed to meet those expectations.

Core courses meet NCAA eligibility standards
Michigan Virtual School
is recognized by the NCAA as a valid provider of online courses with Michigan-certified, highly qualified instructors. College-bound NCAA student athletes who have taken online courses through Michigan Virtual School will typically be required to provide the NCAA Eligibility Center with a course certificate verifying the following information: name of the course, instructor, term and points earned out of total points. This course certificate is accepted by the NCAA as verification of a student’s enrollment in an online course with Michigan Virtual School.

When a student completes an online course with Michigan Virtual School and the instructor has issued final scores at the end of that term, a course certificate is automatically generated through our Customer Enrollment Management System. Whoever originally enrolled the student through the Customer Enrollment Management System has the ability to login and print out the course certificate. This is typically the school counselor or mentor.  Click here for directions. Typically the NCAA student ID number should be included when transcripts are submitted to the NCAA Eligibility Center.

Please note that turnaround time for transcript submission to the NCAA Eligibility Center and NCAA approval for a student athlete to practice typically takes at least one week. Our Customer Care representatives can always assist. Email customercare@mivu.org or call 888.889.2840 for assistance. For further information regarding the NCAA Eligibility Center click here.
